About this postcard
A view looking across a wooded valley toward the broad green mass of Tryon Peak, framed by overhanging tree branches and a pink-and-blue sunset sky. In the foreground two riders on horseback — one on a white horse, one on a brown — stand on a gravel drive beside a red-roofed pavilion and flowering shrubs. Tryon, in Polk County in western North Carolina, became a popular resort and equestrian community in the early 20th century, and the surrounding Blue Ridge foothills drew visitors for their views and mild climate.
