About this postcard
A nighttime panoramic view of Tucson, Arizona, spread across the desert floor with scattered yellow, red and white lights, the dark mass of the Santa Catalina Mountains rising behind the city under a deep blue sky. The card's own caption places the viewpoint on "A" Mountain, the hill marked with a large white "A" for the University of Arizona that overlooks the city from the west. Tucson grew rapidly as a railroad and copper-mining center in the early 20th century, and views like this were popular linen-era souvenirs of the desert Southwest.
