About this postcard

A rounded, turtle-shaped outcrop of weathered conglomerate crowns a scrubby ridge, with a single spindly evergreen to the right and low green shrubs and boulders scattered across the foreground. The printed caption names the formation Turtle Rock in the Little Stone Field of the Pocono Mountains near Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania. The Poconos were a long-established summer resort region, and fancifully named rock formations gave visitors landmarks to seek out. The surrounding boulder-strewn ground fits the region's glacial and erosional history.
