About this postcard
A rounded, turtle-shaped outcrop of weathered conglomerate rock crowns a scrubby ridge, with a single spindly evergreen standing to the right and low green shrubs and boulders scattered across the foreground. The printed caption names the formation as Turtle Rock in the Little Stone Field of the Pocono Mountains near Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania. Such oddly shaped boulders were popular roadside and resort attractions in the Pocono region, where glacial and erosional debris left conspicuous rock formations that were given fanciful names for visitors.
