The Twin Owls rise as a pair of rounded granite outcrops on a hillside above a grassy, tree-dotted slope near Estes Park. The card's caption places the formation high on the Needles near Gem Lake and flanking Black Cañon, about a mile north of the village, where it caught the notice of travelers approaching Estes Park from the east. The paired pinnacles made the formation a familiar landmark on the roads into town and a notable sight for visitors heading toward Rocky Mountain National Park.
White border; visible linen/crosshatch texture; vertical format; printed production code 7A97-N along the right edge; series 442.
No postmark, no handwriting. Divided-back "POST CARD" with one-cent stamp box; printed descriptive text at left; Sanborn Souvenir Co. imprint; linen-textured stock with white border (front).
