The card shows a boy in a red suit and a girl in a white dress with red polka dots and a red hair bow, holding hands as if dancing. Holly sprays with red berries frame the upper left, and the greeting "A Jolly Christmas" is printed above them. Early twentieth-century Christmas postcards often used idealized child figures and holly motifs to convey seasonal cheer.
Rounded, worn corners; edge chipping and scattered stains; image enclosed in a black rectangular frame. Postmark: [illegible] N.J. (only the state is legible; date unreadable). Addressed to Miss Alice Bruen, Masonville, New Jersey. Divided-back Raphael Tuck "Christmas Children" series No. 531, printed in Saxony, green 1c Franklin stamp; heavy brown foxing/staining overall, worn and chipped edges, creases.
