About this postcard

A two-story wood-frame house with a steep gabled roof, central brick chimney, and a covered front porch on turned columns. Light-colored shutters, a rough stone foundation, and a dirt road in the foreground set it in a residential neighborhood; trees and a small outbuilding stand at the sides. The exact address is not recorded, but the card's Waltham postmark ties the house to that city. Waltham was a busy manufacturing center in the early 1900s, and modest clapboard houses with front porches were common in its neighborhoods.
