Two turkeys driving a red touring car, Thanksgiving Day, circa 1907

About this postcard
A comic Thanksgiving illustration shows two turkeys out for a drive in an open red touring car. One sits at the wheel in a white sailor cap, and the other rides beside it in a white chef's hat tied with a bow. A wicker hamper is strapped to the back of the car, and a farmhouse or barn with a cupola stands in green fields behind. The birds are dressed as motorists rather than dinner, a common early twentieth-century Thanksgiving postcard joke. Tuck's holiday novelties often put anthropomorphic turkeys in human roles, and this scene leans on the new pastime of automobile touring.
