About this postcard

The illustration shows two women in traditional winter clothing in a snowy landscape with bare trees. One kneels in the snow while the other stands beside her. The card is a Czech Christmas greeting: 'VESELÉ VÁNOCE!' appears above a printed verse from Karel Jaromír Erben's 'Štědrý den' (Christmas Eve). The handwritten message sends Christmas and New Year wishes to a wife and children, a common family greeting of the early twentieth century.
