About this postcard

The card shows Sheridan, Wyoming's U.S. Post Office and Court House, a two-story light-stone building with a rusticated ground floor, a row of tall arched windows on the upper level, a classical cornice, and an American flag flying from a rooftop pole, with mature trees at the right and a brick building at the left. The facade carries the incised inscription "UNITED STATES POST OFFICE AND COURT HOUSE." Sheridan grew as a cattle and coal town in northern Wyoming, and federal buildings of this type were erected in the early twentieth century to house both the post office and the federal courts under one roof.
