Union Pacific Bridge over Missouri River, Omaha, NE, circa 1930

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A long steel truss bridge on heavy concrete piers spans the Missouri River, with the low skyline and smokestacks of a river city visible beyond the far bank under a sunset sky. The bridge carried the Union Pacific's main line between Omaha, Nebraska, and Council Bluffs, Iowa, a key crossing on the railroad's route west. The industrial skyline on the far bank suggests the working riverfront of the period.
