Color lithograph view of the great Beaux-Arts facade of Washington's Union Station, with its three tall central arches, colonnaded wings, and a monument/fountain in the plaza before it, where trolley cars, horse-drawn vehicles, and a few early automobiles and pedestrians are seen. Union Station opened in 1907, designed by Daniel H. Burnham with Saint-Gaudens' sculpture, and the Columbus Fountain by Lorado Taft was placed in the plaza in 1912, which helps date this view to the early 1910s.
Thin white margin at edges; faint circular mark in the sky (offset cancel or smudge); light corner and edge wear.
Postmark: WASHINGTON D.C. AUG 19 12-M 1909. Divided back, thin white border, color litho (Druckchrome) printed in Germany; light edge wear.
