About this postcard
The picture shows the United States Government Building of the Century of Progress International Exposition in Chicago: three tall, flat-topped white towers banded with orange-red stripes, rising from a stepped white base with a central entrance stair, set on the shore of a lagoon with an American flag and a second flag flying. The federal building was one of the largest structures at the 1933–34 world's fair on Chicago's lakefront, and its striking moderne silhouette made it a favorite postcard subject. The fair marked Chicago's centennial of incorporation and drew millions of visitors during its two-year run.
