About this postcard
A color lithograph view of the massive granite United States Treasury Building on Pennsylvania Avenue, its long colonnaded facade and pedimented center filling the frame, with the Washington Monument rising at the far left and flags flying from the roof. The street in front carries electric streetcars, early automobiles and pedestrians, and a small park with a fountain sits at the right. The Treasury's present Neoclassical building was begun in 1836 under Robert Mills and expanded through the 19th century; the Washington Monument, completed in 1884, stands about a half mile to the southwest.
