About this postcard
The picture shows the long colonnaded south front of the United States Treasury Building in Washington, D.C., with the Washington Monument rising at the left and American flags flying above the roofline. The Treasury's granite Greek Revival structure, designed in part by Robert Mills and built in stages from the 1830s onward, remains one of the oldest departmental buildings in the capital. In the foreground, streetcars, horse-drawn carriages and pedestrians cross the wide intersection, capturing the city's streets in the early automobile era.
