About this postcard
The card shows the downward view from the summit of Mount Washburn, looking across a deep, brightly colored canyon with a pale winding road or trail cut into its slope, toward a broad blue lake and distant ridges. The printed caption names the spot as the summit of Mt. Washburn, elevation 10,317 feet, in Yellowstone National Park. Mount Washburn is one of the park's most accessible high peaks, long a favored lookout for views over the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone Lake, and the card was issued by Haynes Inc., the photographic firm founded by F. Jay Haynes that served as official concessioner photographer in Yellowstone for decades.
