The view looks across the common toward Waltham City Hall, a large brick building with a domed tower. Lawn and shade trees fill the foreground, framing the civic building at the center of town. The common was a public green and gathering place in the city center, and the printed appeal to buy U.S. Savings Bonds reflects the home-front messaging of the wartime period.
