About this postcard

A quiet stretch of the Perkiomen Creek near Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, seen from the bank: dark trees frame the left side and overhang the top, while the still water mirrors the wooded far shore. The Perkiomen is a tributary of the Schuylkill River in Montgomery County, and Schwenksville grew as a small mill and crossroads village along its banks in the nineteenth century. The card's plain monochrome printing and small block-lettered caption are typical of inexpensive local views issued in the first decades of the twentieth century.
