Waves break against a rocky shore on Lake Pepin, with a low, tree-lined far bank under a pale pink sky. The view looks out from Lake City, Minnesota, a summer resort town on the lake's western shore. Lake Pepin is a natural widening of the Mississippi River between Minnesota and Wisconsin, known in the steamboat era for its broad water and sudden whitecaps.
Thin white margin at edges; tinted lithograph with a grainy screen; light wear and a small chip at the right edge. Postmark: none — card is unused. Divided-back "Post Card" stock with private stamp box ("DOMESTIC / IS. POSSESSIONS 1c / CANADIAN / MEXICAN / FOREIGN 2c"); no message, address, or postmark, but a pencil scrawl crosses the stamp box. Light soiling and edge wear; front is a tinted halftone view with a white border.
