About this postcard

A quiet village street in Deer Isle, Maine, seen from the road: a tall clapboard store or boarding house with a corner sign and a utility pole on the left, white and shingled houses with steep gables on the right, and a horse-drawn wagon standing in the distance near a grove of trees. The unpaved road runs through the center of the village, giving the scene the ordinary look of a coastal Maine community in the early 1900s. Deer Isle is a Penobscot Bay island long known for granite quarries and fishing. By the time this view was made, summer visitors and artists were also part of the island's seasonal life.

Though this is written a day later, guess you will get it as soon as mamma gets her letter — Uncle Lawrence.
