About this postcard

A cluster of purple violets and green leaves sits beside the printed phrase “Thoughts of You” in blue outlined letters at the lower right. Violets were a common motif on early twentieth-century greeting cards, often suggesting affection, faithfulness, or remembrance. The card traveled from Brunswick, Maryland, to Roanoke, Virginia, carrying a short note from a friend who thanks the recipient for a card and promises to answer her letter when he gets home.
