Virginia Street at night, Reno, NV, circa 1940

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

Night view down Virginia Street beneath the illuminated Reno Arch, whose neon letters read "RENO" and "THE BIGGEST LITTLE CITY IN THE WORLD." Cars line the street, and neon signs for hotels, a drug store, and a smoke shop glow along the sidewalks. The arch was Reno's downtown landmark in the 1930s and 1940s, when the city's quick-divorce trade and casino strip drew visitors.
