About this postcard
A long, low barn with a stone foundation, a continuous band of small windows under the eaves, and a shallow gabled roof stands in a grassy meadow backed by pines, as the caption names it "A Walker-Gordon Barn, Charles River Village, Mass." The Walker-Gordon farms were known in the early 20th century for producing certified and modified milk under sanitary conditions, and their sprawling, well-ventilated barns were built to house large dairy herds. Charles River Village is a small village on the Charles River in Dover, Massachusetts.
