About this postcard
The view shows the long white barns and red farm buildings of the Walker-Gordon Milk Farms spread across open fields at Plainsboro, New Jersey, as the printed caption names them. The rows of buildings and the surrounding pasture suggest a large commercial dairy rather than a family farm. Walker-Gordon built its business on certified milk, produced under veterinary inspection and strict sanitary rules for sale in nearby cities, at a time when milk-borne illness was a common worry. The Plainsboro farm later became known for its Rotolactor, a circular mechanical milking parlor installed in the 1930s.
