About this postcard

Looking down Wall Street toward Trinity Church, its Gothic Revival spire rising above the office buildings that line the street. Pedestrians, horse-drawn vehicles, and a motor car fill the roadway. Trinity Church, designed by Richard Upjohn and consecrated in 1846, was a long-established landmark in a district given over to finance; its 281-foot spire had once been the tallest structure in the city. The view shows the parish church dwarfed by the commercial towers that grew up around it by the early 20th century.
