About this postcard
A view down Wall Street toward the Gothic Revival spire of Trinity Church, framed by tall office buildings and crowded with pedestrians, horse-drawn vehicles and an early motor car. Trinity Church, designed by Richard Upjohn and consecrated in 1846, stood at the head of Wall Street and was for decades the tallest structure in the city, its 281-foot spire a landmark of the financial district. The scene captures the parish church dwarfed by the commercial towers that grew up around it in the early 20th century.
