About this postcard

The picture shows the "Walls of Jericho," a window-like natural arch of deeply eroded red-orange rock framing the sky, with a pale gravel slope in the foreground and a single dark evergreen visible through the opening. Cedar Breaks is a huge natural amphitheater carved into the Claron Formation limestones of the Markagunt Plateau in Iron County, southern Utah, at elevations above 10,000 feet; its pinnacles and arches were set aside as a national monument in 1933. The card's saturated reds and blues and its printed number are typical of mid-century view cards sold at the park.
