The view looks north from the Waltham Watch Factory across the Charles River toward a long two-story building with rows of windows, raised over the water on pilings, with a dock at its front. Beyond the water, the town and wooded hills rise under a plain sky. Waltham was a watchmaking center, and the Waltham Watch Company was among the country's largest watch manufacturers, its riverside works a defining part of the city's industrial landscape.
