About this postcard

The Waltham Watch Factory complex fills the view from across the Charles River, a group of multi-story brick mill buildings with a corner tower. A church spire and a tree-covered hillside with houses rise behind the works. The Waltham Watch Company was among the first American firms to manufacture watches with interchangeable parts, and its riverside factory made Waltham a center of watchmaking. By 1912 the plant was a well-known local landmark.
