About this postcard

The card shows the War Memorial Building in Jackson, Mississippi, a long, flat-roofed Art Deco structure of pale stone with deep vertical pylons forming a colonnade, set behind a lawn and curving walkway. The inscription carved across the facade reads "PEACE SHALL COME TO THOSE WHO STRIVE FOR PEACE." Completed in 1940 as a memorial to Mississippi's World War I servicemen, the building has long housed the Mississippi Department of Archives and History and stands near the Old Capitol in downtown Jackson.
