Inside the open circular colonnade of the Harding Memorial, a large tree rises at the center above the twin sarcophagi of Warren G. and Florence Harding. Floral wreaths and evergreen plantings surround the tombs. Harding died in office in 1923, and the memorial in his hometown of Marion was dedicated in 1931, becoming a site for public remembrance. The view stresses the scale of the columns and the quiet, open court around the graves.
