About this postcard

A tree-shaded view of the Washington Memorial Chapel and its tall stone Bell Tower at Valley Forge, with a low arcaded cloister wall in the foreground. The chapel was built beginning in 1903 to the design of architect Milton B. Medary as a memorial to George Washington and the Continental Army's 1777-78 winter encampment at Valley Forge; it serves as an active Episcopal parish and houses the Justice Bell, a replica of the Liberty Bell cast for the woman suffrage campaign.
