About this postcard

The Washington Monument rises above a screen of trees, with a small body of water and low buildings in the foreground. The obelisk, completed in 1884 and standing 555 feet tall, was the tallest structure in the world at the time and remains the dominant landmark of the National Mall. The card's own caption names it simply "Washington Monument."
