About this postcard

Washingtonia palms with thick, shaggy trunks line a curving walk through a grassy, flower-bordered park in Miami. Their fan-shaped fronds rise above the path and fill much of the view against a pale sky. The caption places the scene on Palm Avenue, one of the palm-lined streets that supported Miami's early 20th-century image as a subtropical resort. Washingtonia palms were common ornamental plantings in Florida, valued for their height and tolerance of the climate.
