About this postcard

Interior of the former State Supreme Court Room in Independence Hall, Philadelphia, with portraits of the chief justices, a raised bench, and William Rush's wooden statue of George Washington at right. Rush was a Philadelphia carver and sculptor; the caption calls him Colonel William Rush, one of Washington's staff officers, and the figure the only statue of Washington made from life. The room preserves the civic setting where the Pennsylvania Supreme Court once met.
