Watch factory parts room interior, circa 1910

About this postcard

The photograph shows a long, attic-like room with exposed timber rafters, lined with wooden cabinets of many small drawers and display cases holding what appear to be watchmaking or precision-manufacturing tools; a large spoked wheel is mounted on the dark wood wall at right, and a doorway leads to another room with machinery. Small labels suggest a museum or exhibition display. The photographer's mark "LEES" appears in the lower right. Such multi-drawer cabinets were commonly used in watch factories and jewelry workshops to store tiny parts and tools.
