About this postcard

A tall granite obelisk, the Waterman Monument, stands on a grassy hillside at Valley Forge, enclosed by an iron fence with a wreath at its base and an American flag carved on the shaft. The monument honors Brigadier General Anthony Wayne's brigade, whose soldiers wintered at Valley Forge with Washington's army in 1777–78; the site became a Pennsylvania state park in 1893 and a national historical park in 1976. The card is a tinted view with a sunset sky over the surrounding hills.
