A black-and-white view looks down the length of a concrete-lined highway tunnel. Overhead lamps recede along the arched ceiling toward the dark far end, and low curbs line both sides of the empty road.
The Wawona Tunnel opened in 1933, carrying the Wawona Road through granite between Yosemite Valley and the park's south entrance. At 4,233 feet, it was the longest highway tunnel in California when it opened, and its concrete lining and rows of lights were built for auto traffic into Yosemite.
White border around a black-and-white photographic print; caption "Wawona Tunnel - Yosemite Nat'l. Park" and the number "55" appear in the negative. Slight edge wear.
No postmark. Unused divided-back real-photo card; dealer pencil marks "RML25 #200" at top and a blue "B" at left. White border, glossy photo surface; light foxing and soiling overall.
