Welcome Arch, Denver, Colorado, circa 1907

About this postcard

A large ornamental arch spanning a city street, lettered "WELCOME" across the top and "WELCOME TO DENVER" along the inner curve, with pedestrians, horse-drawn vehicles and a streetcar passing beneath it. Denver's Welcome Arch was erected in 1906 to greet visitors to the city (the year it hosted the Democratic National Convention) and stood on the downtown street until it was taken down in the early 1930s. The tinted view shows the brick commercial blocks lining the street behind the arch.
