The view takes in Wesley Lake from the beach, with rows of benches and small pavilions along the sand in the foreground. Boats and a small launch rest on the water, and the amusement district skyline, including a large Ferris wheel, rises along the far shore. Asbury Park was founded in the 1870s as a seaside resort, and by the early 1900s its beachfront and amusement rides drew summer visitors. Wesley Lake forms the boundary between Asbury Park and Ocean Grove.
