About this postcard

A tinted view looking down West Commerce Street in San Antonio, Texas, with a horse-drawn wagon and a bicycle in the foreground, pedestrians in period dress, and an arcaded bank building on the right whose arch reads "THE SAN ANTONIO NATIONAL BANK." Commerce Street was San Antonio's principal commercial thoroughfare, lined with banks, wholesale houses and hotels near the Alamo and the San Antonio River. The card's 1907 date places it in the city's pre-automobile boom years, when streetcars and wagons still shared the roadway.
