About this postcard

The White House's north front is seen across the lawn, with a circular fountain and a ring of red and yellow flowers in bloom. The President's House was designed by James Hoban and first occupied by John Adams in 1800. British troops burned it in 1814; the north portico was added in 1829, giving the north front its columned entrance. The north side faces Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Square.
