About this postcard
A quiet stretch of the White River winding between wooded banks, with a low concrete bridge visible in the distance and a pale sunset sky reflected in the water. The White River rises in the Boston Mountains of northwest Arkansas and runs north into southern Missouri, where it was long a focus of float fishing, canoeing and resort life in the Ozarks before the great dams of the mid-twentieth century created reservoirs such as Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals. The red badge in the corner markets the card as a Missouri souvenir, naming the state's 'Show-Me' nickname.
