The Whitehall Street viaduct carries a busy downtown Atlanta street over the railroad tracks. On the left, the Eiseman Bros. dry goods store runs beneath a long awning; on the right, the columned entrance of the Atlanta National Bank faces the roadway. Pedestrians in early-1900s dress, a horse-drawn wagon, and overhead trolley wires fill the scene. The viaduct lifted street traffic over the rail lines that cut through the center of Atlanta's commercial district.
