Whitehall Street Viaduct, Atlanta, Georgia, circa 1907

About this postcard

A busy view along the Whitehall Street viaduct in downtown Atlanta, with the Eiseman Bros. dry goods store on the left under a long awning and the columned entrance of the Atlanta National Bank on the right. Pedestrians in early-1900s dress, a horse-drawn wagon and trolley wires overhead fill the street. The viaduct carried Whitehall Street (later Peachtree Street) over the railroad tracks through the heart of the city's commercial district in the years after the 1906 rebuilding of downtown.
