Whitehall Street Viaduct, Atlanta, Georgia, circa 1910

Card type
Printed photo

About this postcard

A busy view along the Whitehall Street Viaduct in downtown Atlanta, with pedestrians in hats and long coats, horse-drawn wagons and a carriage filling the roadway between tall commercial blocks; the corner building at right has a deep arched entrance framed by columns. The viaduct carried Whitehall Street (later Peachtree Street SW) over the railroad tracks and yards near Atlanta's Union Station, a crossing that became a landmark of the growing downtown business district in the early 20th century. The printed number 1871 at the top is a card number, not a date.
