About this postcard
The view looks along Whittier Street from Sparhawk Street in Amesbury, Massachusetts. A large Queen Anne style house with a conical corner turret, wraparound porch, and shingled upper stories stands at the corner, with more wood-frame houses receding down the tree-lined street beneath utility poles and wires. Amesbury, on the Merrimack River in Essex County, was a long-established mill town known for carriage and automobile body works, and its residential streets were lined with late-19th-century frame houses.
