About this postcard

A view along Whittier Street at its corner with Sparhawk Street in Amesbury, Massachusetts, dominated by a large Queen Anne-style house with a conical corner turret, wraparound porch and shingled upper storeys, with further frame houses receding down the tree-lined street and utility poles and wires overhead. Amesbury, on the Merrimack River in Essex County, was a long-established mill town known for its carriage and automobile body works, and its streets were lined with such late-19th-century wood-frame residences.
