Nature made Chincoteague an Island, surrounded it with channels and bays filled with game fish from early Spring to late Fall. These waters furnish the world famous "Chincoteague Oysters and Clams." The Island is about seven miles long, each end marshlands offer roaming grounds for the wild ponies. These ponies roam at will eating the salt grass and myrtle bushes. They are rounded up and sold the last Thursday in July, Pony-Penning day. Thousands of visitors witness the biggest "Wild West show of the East" every year. Chincoteague is connected to the mainland by good roads, is very modern in every way. Good hotels — theatre — churches — Western Union and telephone connections, a nice place to visit, a grand place to spend your vacation. --- Pony-Penning is held each year on this pic-turesque Island the last Thursday in July. A ten-day carnival is held to add to the traditional pageant. Post Card 268 PLACE STAMP HERE Published by H. & H. Pharmacy, Vacation Souvenirs, Post Cards Made in U. S. A. by E. C.
