About this postcard
A wide, calm stretch of the Winooski River winds between wooded banks toward a rolling range of the Green Mountains, with a small rocky island in the foreground and a red-roofed building tucked into the hillside. The Winooski rises in the Green Mountains near Cabot and flows some 90 miles west through Montpelier, Waterbury and Burlington to Lake Champlain, and the river valley has long been a scenic subject for Vermont view cards. The linen-textured coloring with pink-tinted clouds is typical of mid-century chromolithograph postcards.
